WORKING MEETING OF OSCE AND EUROPEAN UNION WITH THE LEADERSHIP OF THE MINING-METALLURGICAL INSTITUTE OF TAJIKISTAN

On July 17, 2025, a significant working meeting took place in the city of Buston between the heads of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) offices in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as a representative of the European Union, and the leadership of the Mining-metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan (MMIT).

The event was held within the framework of an active Memorandum of Understanding between the Tajik Mining-metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan and the public organization “Youth Group for Environmental Protection” (YGPE) Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to joint efforts in environmental protection, sustainable development, and training a new generation of specialists capable of effectively addressing the region’s environmental challenges.

The purpose of the visit was to gain in-depth insight into the educational, research, and innovation activities of the Institute, as well as to discuss the prospects for developing international cooperation in the fields of higher education, science, ecology, and technology.

The Institute’s leadership warmly and hospitably welcomed the foreign delegation, showcasing the university’s key achievements in recent years. Guests were introduced to modern laboratories and research facilities equipped with advanced technologies, where active scientific work is carried out in vital areas such as geology, ecology, sustainable natural resource management, and renewable energy.

Particular attention during the meeting was given to the training of highly qualified personnel, the strengthening of academic mobility, the implementation of joint educational and research programs, and the creation of a platform for the exchange of experience among faculty and students from Central Asian countries and the European Union.

During the constructive discussions, both sides expressed mutual interest in expanding the scope of cooperation, developing cross-border projects, and supporting sustainable initiatives in the academic and scientific spheres.

The outcomes of the meeting marked a solid step forward in deepening the Institute’s international relations, opening new horizons for integrating Tajikistan’s higher education into the global academic and scientific landscape. The Mining-metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan reaffirmed its commitment to international quality standards and its aspiration for dynamic development in the interest of the entire region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the heads of the European Union and OSCE delegations, along with other distinguished guests, expressed their sincere gratitude to the leadership of MMIT for the warm welcome, high level of organizational excellence, and openness to constructive dialogue. According to their statements, the visit represented an important milestone in strengthening partnership ties and laid a solid foundation for fruitful cooperation in the future.
